Moderator: Jessica Lee – Brown Rudnick

Jessica Lee is a partner in Brown Rudnick’s Litigation and Arbitration practice group.
Jess acts for both corporate and individual claimants and defendants in complex and high value commercial litigation with particular experience in civil fraud and asset recovery actions, company and shareholder disputes, and cyber, crypto and blockchain matters. Jess was named a Rising Star for civil fraud in The Legal 500 2023 having acted on a number of significant civil fraud matters, many of which have also involved advising on freezing, proprietary, and disclosure injunctions. Jess advises on various crypto and blockchain matters, including asset recovery actions and litigation involving DeFi platforms, compliance and regulatory issues and decentralised governance structures.

Speaker 1: Paul Staples – Grant Thornton:

Paul is a Regulatory Consultant at Grant Thornton where he advises businesses in how to navigate and meet complex regulatory requirements.
With over 20 years in financial services, his experience spans global organisations and fledgling businesses seeking regulatory authorisation. Paul frequently works alongside regulators as part of their supervision of firms. He is a member of the ICAEW’s Working Group on Digital Assets and a specialist in regulatory regimes that protect customers’ assets. He has a passion for supporting growing businesses and providing pragmatic advice that ensures good consumer outcomes.

Speaker 2: Ben Lee – Andersen LLP

Ben Lee is a Digital Asset Partner at Andersen LLP, a chartered accountant, a chartered tax advisor and complete degen.
Ben's passion for the crypto space is shown through his relationships with his client base, having provided tax and financial services to a large number of successful projects and platforms across the spectrum of digital asset sectors. Ben is vocal about wanting the UK to be a place for this technology to thrive and is part of a number of UK based working groups that discuss guidance and tax policy. A seasoned writer and speaker, Ben has published various articles and commentary on a range of issues surrounding regulation and taxation of digital assets for media outlets including the Financial Times, Bloomberg and Law360 and was awarded Spears 500 Top Cryptocurrency Advisor for high net worth individuals in 2022.

Speaker 3: Zornitsa Daskalova – Optima Partners

Zornitsa Daskalova is a Global Head of Financial Crime at Optima Partners.
Zornitsa brings a unique blend of expertise in both Traditional Finance (TradFi) and the emerging sectors of Digital Assets and DeFi to her role as Global Head of Financial Crime at Optima Partners. With extensive experience in investment banking, asset management and regulatory compliance with focus on counter terrorist and money laundering, Zornitsa is a highly valued professional in the field. Zornitsa is an active member of AIMA's Digital Assets and Financial Crime Working Groups, showcasing her commitment to industry innovation and best practices. Prior to her consulting career, Zornitsa gained her TradFi experience on the trading floor in UniCredit Bank and her compliance journey started at Deutsche Bank in Germany which led her to her London roles at Man Group and BlackRock. She also led pivotal MiFID II/MiFIR compliance efforts at Sanlam UK establishing herself as a trusted authority in regulatory landscapes.
