familyvax

We are urging people to take extra care and to access NHS services wisely ahead of the festive period and during the upcoming strike action by junior doctors taking place from:

  • 7am on Wednesday 20 December – 7am on Saturday 23 December
  • 7am on Wednesday 3 January – 7am on Tuesday 9 January 2024

The strikes are likely to have an impact on some NHS services and some appointments may be disrupted. However, please attend your booked appointments unless you are told otherwise. If you need medical help, it is important that you choose the right NHS service for you or your family’s needs, to make sure urgent care is available to those who need it most. Read more.

Everyone is invited to share their views on the future of maternity, neonatal and children’s surgical services in North Central London (NCL) as a public consultation launched last week. The consultation is being jointly run by NCL Integrated Care Board, on behalf of the Integrated Care System, with NHS England as commissioner of some specialised services for neonatal and children’s surgical care. The consultation will run for 14-weeks from Monday 11 December 2023 until 11.59pm on Sunday 17 March 2024. You can provide feedback and read more on our website.

Are you up to date with your vaccinations?

The national booking system has now closed for flu and COVID-19 vaccines for this winter. You can still get a flu vaccine from a GP or pharmacy up to 31 March 2024. You can find your nearest pharmacy offering the vaccine on the NHS website. This winter we are also asking parents to ensure that their children are up to date with their routine vaccinations, measles in particular. Please check your child’s red book today and if you are still unsure of their vaccination status, contact your GP surgery.

Did you know that, in addition to your GP, there are other health professionals in general practice who can help you get the right care? To help explain the support available, the NHS has released a film (above) that sees three curious children go behind the scenes at a general practice to meet the health professionals working there and learn more about how they help get patients the care they need. Read more.

Free blood pressure checks for over 40s

Everyone over 40 can now benefit from a quick, free blood pressure check and receive personalised blood pressure advice at their local pharmacy, saving a trip to the GP and freeing up time for GPs to see other patients. Find a participating pharmacy in North Central London that offers blood pressure checks on our website.

Join our new Data Access Group!

Our new Data Access Group will make decisions on the uses of patient data across North Central London Integrated Care System. These uses may be for personal (direct) care or for service planning and review. It is critical that the community are involved in this decision making due to the sensitivity of the data issues. For this reason, four participants are needed, with at least two resident champions needed for any decision of the group to be ratified. This is a volunteer position where you will be expected to attend a monthly meeting. We expect the overall time commitment to be about a day a month and you will be compensated for your time in line with our policy. Find out more and apply on our website.
