To improve equity of access to unscheduled care services across the London Borough of Barnet, we are changing the opening hours of our two walk-in centres at Edgware Community Hospital and Finchley Memorial Hospital. This is a temporary change whilst urgent care services are reviewed across North Central London. The change became effective in both services on 11 September 2023 and will be in place until 31 March 2024. Read more.

A new approach to support people living with long-terms conditions in NCL

2uNlBbuHflY1

From October 2023 GP practices across NCL will be offering a new way of treating and supporting people living with certain long-term conditions. Residents who have already been diagnosed with these conditions will be invited by their GP surgery to have a Yearly Health Check.

A Yearly Health Check will offer patients personalised care and support from healthcare professionals at their general practice. By planning care together with healthcare professionals, patients will gain the confidence to manage their own health, reduce their risk of being admitted to hospital, and give themselves a better quality of life. The short video above shows how the Yearly Health Check will work by following NCL resident Sergio’s journey. Engagement feedback - NHS 111 and Integrated Care service reprocurement

111phone

In 2022, NCL ICB began work to find a supplier to continue to deliver the local NHS 111 and Integrated Urgent Care service for NCL. Views were gathered from patients, residents, and communities via a survey, patient and community groups across the five boroughs, and a series of smaller focus meetings with specific groups, including mental health service users, people with learning disabilities, people whose first language is not English, and the deaf community. We have produced a leaflet that collates all the feedback we received and sets out our response. Read the feedback from the programme on our website.
