Exploring Sustainability beyond the classroom!

We had another fantastic opportunity to deliver a series of enrichment sessions in collaboration with Barclays. The six sessions covered essential information on debt, credit, insurance, scams and much more and took place over three days in three ONLS sites.

With just over 200 Our Newham Learning & Skills learners in attendance, these sessions provided valuable information on various aspects of everyday banking supporting our learners to develop essential banking skills and gain understanding of products and services Barclays have in place to help its customers.

Many thanks to the Barclay’s team and Our Newham Learning & Skills for more amazing enrichment sessions.

Please contact ournewhamls@newham.gov.uk to enrol onto one of our courses.

ONLS Bake Off Competition

The challenge was to bake and decorate 6 spring themed cup-cakes and the learners did not disappoint!

We had butterflies; we had bees; we had daffodils; we had ladybirds; we had yellows and greens and pale pinks; we had spring in beautifully presented boxes. And the flavours! Oh my! Pineapple, strawberry, chocolate, vanilla, salted caramel…too delicious for words!

To say that the judging was difficult is an understatement. A huge well-done to everyone who took part and particularly to our prize winners:

  • 3rd Prize went to Maria Da Silva
  • 2nd Prize went to Sukunarani Supramaniam
  • 1st Prize went to Nadine Taylor

Looking forward to the next Cake Off this summer!

Learner Success Story

Meet Julian!

Julian has shown significant improvement in utilising blending techniques with a flat brush, demonstrating confidence in identifying two primary colours.

With Guidance, he is progressing well in naming the three secondary colours, contributing to the development of a broader understanding of the colour wheel. He has been able to use his skills to create a still life painting.
