Learner Stories'

As the new term kicks off, our ESOL Entry 2 learners are embarking on an exciting journey into the realm of grammar. To develop their understanding of essential grammar terms, the learners commenced their studies with a short quiz. The quiz required learners to select the correct grammar terms to complete sentences, testing their grasp of foundational concepts.

ESOL Entry 2 learners utilised Artificial Intelligence (AI) to assess and mark their grammar quiz. This approach allowed for instantaneous feedback, offering a tailored learning experience for each student.

Fantastic work!

Learner Stories'-Aroj Razzaq Din Naz

I came to the UK 2 years ago and the highlight of my time in the UK is enrolling on an Our Newham Learning and Skills course.

I began my journey in the UK with a part-time job but wasn’t too fond of this. My cousins informed me about ONLS and the courses available. Without any more time wasted, I took my ESOL initial assessment and began my ESOL journey.

Studying ESOL began as a difficult journey as I did not know one word of English. I completed ESOL Entry 3 and progressed through the other levels. At the same time, I studied the Teaching Assistant course with Level 1 Essential Digital Sills. Now I am currently studying ESOL level 2 alongside TA Level 2 with school placements.

I am really enjoying all my courses! My goal is to become a teaching assistant and to complete the remainder of my course.

Our Newham Learning & Skills successful Open Days

The winter season at ONLS was illuminated by the resounding success of our Winter Open Days, a celebration of learning, connection, and a shared passion for knowledge. These Open days provided an opportunity for new learners to find out more about the course of interest, enrol, take any initial assessments required, and find out more about our bursary and student finance system. With over 150 new learners we are delighted to have you learn and develop your potential with us.
