The Regulation 19 Consultation is now open. Have your say on the Local Plan!
We are pleased to inform you that the Newham Draft Submission Local Plan has been published in accordance with Regulation 19 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012. This is the final consultation before the submission of the Local Plan to central Government for examination.
The Newham Local Plan serves as the primary planning document used to assess planning applications and manage areas for regeneration and development in Newham to 2038. The refreshed plan aims to deliver our key objectives: inclusive growth, delivering a fairer Newham and addressing our climate emergency.
The consultation will run until 6 September.

SMEs leverage data and AI tools for business growth
We’re delighted to have worked with Newham College over the last few weeks, delivering workshops for local businesses in East Ham on data and AI.
Businesses from the high street and areas around East Ham joined to learn how to use data to improve their marketing plans; how to use AI tools to support their growth and productivity and cybersecurity basics to stay safe online.
As a business owner or employee, improving your digital skills can make a big difference to your bottom line, whether that’s saving time, making more money or avoiding risk.

Businesses can now apply for one of 24 grants of up to £2,500 towards the cost of a cargo bike, helping to cut transport costs and improve air quality in the borough.
The Zero Emissions Network operates the cargo bike grant project, an award-winning initiative that helps businesses save money, reduce emissions, and improve local air quality. It recently expanded to Newham after helping nearly 100 businesses including electricians, florists, and hairdressers, in adopting cargo bikes and e-bikes for their transportation needs.
Share your views on the green economy and win £50 Amazon vouchers!
You are invited to complete a survey as part of a project led by the University of East London in partnership with the Council to better understand the views of businesses based in Newham (including social enterprises and third sector organisations) about climate change and the green economy.
The survey should take no longer than 25 minutes to complete and all responses are anonymous. Once you complete the survey, you will have the opportunity to enter a prize draw to win one of twenty £50 Amazon vouchers.
The deadline to complete the survey is Monday 2 August.

On 10 July, TfL opened the Carpenters Estate entrance to Stratford Station.Funded by the London Borough of Newham and the London Legacy Development Corporation, this entrance provides direct access to Gibbins Road, it will reduce walking time by up to twenty minutes for residents and improve safety and security across Stratford.
The entrance is key to our Stratford Vision to enhance public spaces and accessibility, and supports the Council's Carpenter's Estate regeneration plans. New seating and bicycle racks outside the entrance promote active travel supporting our Just Transition Climate Action Plans for Stratford to become London's first Green Zone.
Apply for a Play Street and reclaim your street as a safe place for children to play
A Play Street is when a street is temporarily closed to through traffic for 3-5 hours, so that children can play safely outside and enjoy a traffic-free street.
Run yours during Car Free Day on Sunday 22 September, and receive a host of play resources such as: skipping ropes, inflatable balls, chalk + more!
Residents, community groups and organisations can apply to host a Play Street by Thursday 1 August to claim the offer.
