Welcome to another edition of our learner newsletter!

As we wrap up this exciting term, I want to extend a heartfelt congratulations to all learners for completing their exams and assessments – you've all worked incredibly hard!

We're also thrilled about the success of our Cake Off competition, which showcased some truly amazing baking talent. Our Health and Wellbeing workshops have been a great hit, promoting a positive lifestyle and insightful information session. We had the final learner representatives meeting for this academic year, which provided our learners with a space to raise feedback.

As we’re coming to the end of this academic year, we also celebrated our learners through our inspiring awards event, where we celebrated the incredible achievements of our learners with special educational needs and disabilities.

Summer Cake Off Competition

On Monday 24th June, we had an exciting cake off competition at Gainsborough Learning Centre. With the brief to create 12 miniature elegant cakes, where no two cakes can be the same, our learners worked against the clock to meet the brief. From fresh cream to fresh fruits, our learners amazed us with the creativity and techniques.

  • 1st place- Sukrani Suprani
  • 2nd place- Nadine Taylor
  • 3rd – Angela Netto

Well done to all learners who participated.

Health and Wellbeing sessions- Well Newham

Across term C, over 120 learners attended information sessions delivered by Well Newham and ONLS colleagues. The sessions provided learners with a range of information to where learners can go to receive support and guidance for housing concerns, healthy eating and much more.

The sessions focused on enhancing learners awareness of the services Newham Council provides and what Well Newham can support with, along with the process it entails.

For more information regarding the support from Well Newham, please visit their website: https://www.wellnewham.org.uk/ or visit one of the Well Newham Hubs (locations can be found on their website).

We hope all learners who attended the session gained valuable information.
