Play Streets

Apply for a Play Street and reclaim your street as a safe place for children to play

A Play Street is a street that is temporarily closed to through traffic for three-five hours, so that children can play safely outside, adults can meet with their neighbours, and everyone can enjoy a traffic-free street.

Local resident Maryam shared her experience of hosting a Play Street: "Our street transformed into a safe, car-free zone where children could freely, ride their bikes, draw with chalk, and play games without the usual worries. Hearing our children play and laugh outside was magic!”

A Play Street is a happy street. Run yours during Car Free Day on Sunday 22 September, and receive a host of play resources such as: skipping ropes, inflatable balls, chalk and more! Apply before Thursday 1 August to claim the offer.
