About us
The Royal Bath & West of England Society was formed in 1777 to promote and encourage agriculture, manufacture, commerce and arts & rural crafts for education and knowledge transfer. These founding principals are as true today as then with The Society leading and supporting a range of charitable activities across the West of England. The famous three-day agricultural show has called The Bath & West Showground in the heart of rural Somerset home for the last 50 years. The Society also organises a number of other major agricultural & rural shows, details for which can be found at www.bathandwest.com. Across a site of over 240 acres in sight of the majestic mendips, The Showground is an exceptional destination for over a million people a year; a unique, inspiring venue that plays host to a diverse range of third party indoor and outdoor events. With just 4 weeks to go until the Royal Bath & West Show 2024 begins, what have our team been up to in April! 🚜 We had another successful Field to Food with over 1,400 students and a visit from the Duchess of Edinburgh! 💅 We launched our first ever drag event, An Evening with Danny Beard! 1 month to Show (4 weeks) 🍻 Carol Paris and Charly Andrews attended the Better Cider Tasting in Bristol in preparation for cider entries at the Show ✨ Carol & Charly also went to visit Shepton Mallet Prison to look at future events 🚲 We had 12 events and meeting on the Showground over the month! 🎪 Show prep continues with the very first marquee going up on the 7th May! 🏆 And finally our fabulous Showground won the Best Indoor and Outdoor Venue 2024 - South West! Well done to our incredible team working super hard in the run up to Show!

For this years Field to Food Learning Day we had a very special visitor. 🚜🌾 Nick Bragg from Frogmary Green Farm is embarking on an extraordinary cycling challenge alongside a KRONE GROUP BiG X forager to raise much-needed funds for the industry and used Field to Food Learning Day as an opportunity to tell the children all about his venture. Nick Bragg will undertake the 1,000-mile challenge to raise funds for farming charity RABI. The challenge will start at Northumberland County Show on 26 May, travelling south via Suffolk Show on 30 and 31 May, before finishing at the Royal Cornwall Show on 5 June. The journey will span multiple counties and stop at several farm shops and Krone dealerships, to gather local community support and raise nationwide awareness of RABI’s vital work. ⭐ The Bath & West Team wish Nick and companions the best of luck for such an important challenge ⭐

The Field to Food Learning Day at the Bath & West Showground took place on Wednesday 17th April and saw over 1400 children from schools in the surrounding area. We are also very lucky to have hosted The Duchess of Edinburgh at the event! The Royal Bath & West of England was delighted for The Duchess of Edinburgh to see the hard work and dedication that goes into creating such an event, and to see the invaluable learning experienced by the school children during the day packed with activities. We had a wonderful day which really highlighted the hard work and dedication from every single volunteer, staff member and exhibitor at the event.
