Welcome to the Spring edition of The Pulse! This edition is full of all things WME...
Since we last spoke here at WME, nearly all Councils in our Region have had difficult decisions to make around setting budgets for 2024/25 and has left many of us working hard to find new and sustainable ways to deliver savings. Any easy options were taken many years ago, decisions have now been made about minimising impact on communities and service users. We know at some point in 2024 we will have a General Election and at the moment it feels as though Government and the Civil Service is in a ‘holding pattern’ with no significant policy decisions.

Our focus internally at WME in 2024 is on ‘consolidation’ – ensuring we consolidate our practices, processes and services after a period of growth across the team and to our clients. In April we will be starting a consultation with our Shareholder and Corporate Members to understand more about what you want from WME over the next five years, as we get ready to develop our Strategic Plan 2025 to 30. There will be lots of opportunities to engage in this consultation over the summer, so please do take time to engage with this process.

Regarding WMJobs what a year they have had so far, from being highly commended at the November 2023 REC Awards to the growth they have through successfull campaigns such as the Careers in Local Goverment and Appreticeships in Local Goverment Campaigns. The numbers really speak for themselves
